The first National Food Consumption Survey dates back more than 20 years. The National Food Consumption Survey II was a special study in many respects. The sheer scale, with approximately 20,000 participants in 500 study centers spread throughout Germany, represented an unprecedented organizational achievement by all involved, starting in November 2003.
The objective of the National Food Consumption Survey II was to collect and present comprehensive information, representative for Germany, on eating habits, lifestyle types, food consumption, and nutrient intake.
